About The Position

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers. This position is responsible for safely operating the Rogers evaporator, whey Ultra Filtration (UF), whey RO1 and RO2, whey silos, polisher, and whey cream tanks, including start-up, shut-down, Clean in Place (CIP), and troubleshooting. The operator will also maintain records, monitor incoming whey products, ensure heat treatment, complete bill of ladings, load/unload trucks, and maintain housekeeping and sanitation.

Requirements

  • Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), preferred.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  • This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  • Responsible for safely operating the Rogers evaporator, whey Ultra Filtration (UF), whey RO1 and RO2, whey silos, polisher, and whey cream tanks.
  • Operator will start up, shut down, Clean in Place (CIP), and troubleshoot equipment when appropriate.
  • Maintain all related records, charts and documentation per policy.
  • Monitor incoming Whey products.
  • Maintain heat treatment (HTST) on the Rogers evaporator.
  • Complete bill of ladings for shipped products and safely load, unload, and wash trucks.
  • Document and communicate production deficiencies to leads and management.
  • Report and communicate critical information during shift change overs.
  • Monitor solid composition and temperature, adjusting based on the product type, while identifying and communicating process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain housekeeping, organization, and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Help the maintenance personnel, when needed, with machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to all Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and AMPI Safety Polices & Procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
