About The Position

Intermediate District 287 is looking for Extended School Year (ESY) Student Interns to work this summer! Summary of Scope of Classification An Extended School Year Student Intern is responsible for assisting their mentor teacher in facilitating class activities with students and learning more about becoming an educator.

Requirements

• Must be a current high school or transition student in District 287
• Interests: Working with youth or education field
• Joining the Future Educators’ Club
• Skills in: Engagement with youth

• Organization
• Ability to: Be flexible
• Be present
• Engage with students appropriately

Responsibilities

• Access and learn about materials used in the classroom, such as books, manuals, technologies, tests, lab equipment, etc.
• Participate in routine activities with their mentor teachers such as classroom activities, cafeteria and hallway assignments, team meetings, etc.
• Prepare materials for lessons and activities
• Create and maintain a safe, equitable learning environment
• Observe mentor teacher while instructing and planning
