About The Position

Estimator, will review Specification Packages, Work Items, Conditions Found Reports, and Inspection Deficiency Reports to determine the material requirements and cost, trade labor and staffing needed to accomplish the identified requirements. Provide detailed labor breakdowns and multiple deadlines for multiple customers. Duties include, but are not limited to: Commits to work; adapts and remains flexible; maintains ethical behavior; manages oneself efficiently and in a professional manner. Communicates with various customers to obtain information pertinent to customers request for pricing. Reviews RFPs, work items, drawings, prints and technical manuals to identify trades, man-hours and potential sub-contractors to accomplish work requirements. Prepare detailed pricing information to include reports to production that provide labor estimates, material estimates, sub estimates which may be in varying Customers formats. Maintain frequent communication with customer contracting officers including ship repair prime contractors - ensure all customer RFPs are accommodated. May require offsite Scope Session with Prime / Government Contracting Officers. Maintains records / files in accordance with company / department procedures and guidelines. Conducts ship checks to ensure scope of work is being properly identified and estimated. Develop a complete and concise labor hour and material dollar estimate that meets the requirements of the specification, drawing or work scope. Interacts with others, by promoting customer relations and satisfaction. Actively participates in implementing and monitoring all continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Must be able to work in the US.
  • Minimum 2-year college degree.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain DBIDS credentials.

Nice To Haves

  • A plus, 6 years' experience as a Ship Repair Estimator
  • 4-year College Degree (BS)
  • Familiarity with the requirements for government estimating and contract process.
  • Understand the Naval Ship Repair contract requirements and working environment.
