About The Position

Twining, an innovative engineering, testing, and inspection Company with over 120 years of history, is seeking an Estimator for its Long Beach Headquarters Office. This position will be responsible for estimating and sales professional services to the construction industry. The candidate must be self-starting, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under the supervision of the Director of Infrastructure Operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, English, communications, journalism, engineering; or related field.
  • 2 Years’ previous experience in estimating in a construction or engineering company preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Highway, paving, public works, rail, airport or transportation construction markets.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Engineering/Construction industry; familiarity with market, agencies and companies.
  • Strong analytical, math and people skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments at the same time.
  • Understanding of project drawing and specifications.
  • Understanding of construction code/city requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Pursue QC opportunities for infrastructure transportation projects ( roadways, bridges, highways, grade separations, etc.) with a contract value of $50 million+ from key agencies such as Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACTMA), Caltrans, San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) and other sister agencies with similar scale in funding and capital improvement budgets primarily in the Los Angeles and Orange County markets.
  • Develop and grow connections with large contractors to position the company on key pursuits and teaming opportunities for QC opportunities for large infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain strong local presence, attend local and regional networking events such as (CMAA, AGC, ACEC, WTS, etc.) consistently to generate early intel and qualified leads for large infrastructure projects.
  • Assists in the collection leads and coordinate follow up with potential clients with Director of Infrastructure Operations approval.
  • Speak knowledgably about company services and brand.
  • Learn and understand current client base for new technical service lines.
  • Read, understand and interpret construction specifications and drawings.
  • Develop quality control proposals for submittal at bid time.
  • Present estimates to Director of Infrastructure Operations for final review.
