About The Position

Overview: The Level I Estimator develops and prepares cost estimates of materials for various electrical projects. Essential Functions: 1.Bid Preparation: 80% Downloads and organizes bid documents into electronic files as directed by the Director of Estimating and other Estimators on the project. Reviews bid documents to accurately quantify and estimate costs of all electrical items provided in the bid package. Attends pre-bid meetings to gather pertinent information as required. Quantifies electrical items per the bid package. Prepares the bills of material for a quotation. Assists other Estimators with the final assembly of the estimate for presentation to the customer. 2. Processes project quotations and verify vendor bill of materials for accuracy and conformity with bid documents. 5% 3. Prepares proposals, the scope of work letters, and assists with Request for Proposal response packages.5% 4. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Estimating, including being introduced to, and assisting with, the Labor Analysis Workflow (LAW) labor breakdown and Packaged Alterman Construction Kits (PACK) assemblies. 10% Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. No experience required. A journeyman's license or associate degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred. Basic knowledge of estimating is preferred. Basic understanding of either electrical distribution and motor controls OR electrical distribution, branch, and lighting systems is preferred. Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Able to read and understand plans and specifications, including blueprints, proposals, and other electrical work documents. Basic knowledge of Accubid, ConEst, or equivalent estimating software is preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software. Basic typing and computer skills are preferred. Work Environment: Office environment with some local travel required. Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk while working on a computer. Must be able to walk job sites. Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
