Job Description: POSITION RESPOSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Take ownership and help promote the self-perform business strategy Use of strong coaching and leadership capabilities with ability to lead, inspire and motivate a team to drive business results Able to perform all essential Senior Estimator responsibilities Ability to heavily support the selling and procurement of work Participate in Project Interviews This position Supervises and trains estimating staff (up to 40% of the time) Manage three or more direct estimators including senior estimators Work with the Chief Estimator and other Estimating Managers, as needed to assign and share staffing resources Work closely with the Chief Estimator and Operations Staff to manage teams, execute company strategy and align our Core Values with employees across the organization Manage, delegate, and drive execution through others Participate in project Go / No-Go meetings, prepare an accurate cost of pursuit estimates and preliminary budget evaluations Review and approve all subordinate estimates before releasing them to clients Review and approve General Conditions and General Requirements estimates as needed Review project plans, requirements, and specifications Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks Compile, produce and present Escalation data and findings as needed Determine labor and construction equipment costs Prepare conceptual estimates Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules Submit requisitions for the purchase of materials Compare competitive trade bids Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with the Project Manager Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters) Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors Work with the Chief Estimator in setting, implementing, and maintaining department best practices, tools, and processes. Lead hard bid pursuits Assist Jobsite staff with estimates after bid award Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable) Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable) Lead active recruiting and interviewing of new additions to the team Create and monitor the bid checklist Workday / Certify subordinate approvals Actively participate in Development Check-ins (twice a year at a minimum) Complete other responsibilities as assigned MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience Minimum of Three (3) years in a Senior Estimator role or equivalent experience Manage a business plan goal of work in place of no less than $150 Million per year revenue Minimum Ten (10) years of construction experience Requires a network of established internal and external business relationships and possesses keen knowledge and experience specific to the markets that they serve Proven themselves as Swinerton business partners and possess the leadership attributes necessary to lead projects and teams Strong critical thinking skills Proficient experience in data analysis including material escalation / lead times and Historical database responsibilities Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations Working knowledge of construction costs and principles Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting, engineering design knowledge, and project management experience desirable) Leadership and supervisory skills Swinerton provides commercial construction services throughout the United States, delivering innovative solutions and outstanding service to our customers for time-tested buildings and facilities.
