About The Position

Responsibilities of an Estimating Manager may include leading regional Estimators for specific trade estimating, administering company estimating tools for accuracy and efficiency, assisting with quantification of work items, bid solicitation, estimate pricing, preliminary value analysis, scope development and processing of computerized data.  Provide trade specific estimate to regional Construction or Project Manager who will in turn generate and submit the complete customer specific proposal. This is a multi-faceted position including, but not limited to, the following

Requirements

  • Associates degree and/or a proven track record of estimating and managing projects in the construction industry
  • 5 to 7 years in Trade applying for (Refrigeration, HVAC, Electrical or Carpentry).
  • Subcontractor lists and Customer contacts a plus, positive history and positive working relationships with subcontractors is a must.
  • Ability to process and visualize construction drawings and documents.
  • Must be able to estimate and process field change orders with a sense of urgency.
  • Self-motivated to follow through the estimate process from inception to completion.
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge must include, but not limited to MS Office- Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Subcontractor lists and Customer contacts a plus, positive history and positive working relationships with subcontractors is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Manage national team of trade-specific Estimators.
  • Develop and upkeep estimating tools required to provide accurate estimates.
  • Conduct internal estimating review team meetings.
  • Read and understand construction documents and produce efficient, reliable and competitive estimates in the required time frame and schedule demands.
  • Communicate with customers and/or the Climate Pros Account/Construction/Project Managers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing and build long term relationships.
  • Prepare and present complete estimate packages to senior management.
  • Continuously follow up and log all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards/probabilities. All bids need to be logged in Fieldgetics.
  • Interact and provide direction for field supervision/general foreman to ensure design intent and cost-effective measures are being fulfilled.
  • Negotiate fixture/gear pricing and monitor delivery dates.
  • Prepare contractual exhibits and scope documents.
  • Generate and provide material take-offs to be used by Purchasing and Construction teams.
  • After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future analysis.
  • Develop and document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities.
  • Work with other estimators and project team members, encourage ethics in estimating, be aggressive yet sound in bid fees, buy downs and margins.
  • Input on strategies, be creative and voice ideas and options to help book work, success hit ratio at 25% is needed, secure subcontractor coverage and active relationships, call subcontractors and secure their best numbers. Help locate leads, attend and actively participate in site visits, pursuit conference calls, subcontractor lists and contacts a plus, positive history and positive working relationships with subcontractors is a must
  • Write scope sheets, instructions to bidders, distribute documents and instructions to bidders and bidder information, be able to support self without administrative and clerical assistance.
  • Participate in quarterly post-project review to better refine future estimates.
