We are seeking a full-time Intern for our Houston office located in Katy, Tx to join our team for a duration of 10 consecutive weeks from June to August. Here's how an Estimating Intern for our US PICCo office contributes to our team:

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H1-B, etc.) for this position
• 18 years of age or older
• Available to work in Houston, TX, full time from June to August
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check and substance abuse test conducted by a third party
• Basic knowledge of construction industry; on-site experience or exposure to construction (hands-on or trade experience) preferred.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs.

Responsibilities

• Assists estimators in preparing bids and proposals by performing quantity take-off for self-perform work and calculating quantity take-offs for trade scopes as related to the tender packages; filing bid documentation; and contacting trade contractors and suppliers for price quotes.
• Review and perform quantity survey assignment with lead estimator
• Performs general sub-trade solicitation duties
• Bid document control
• Performs bid day assignments
• Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping
• Visits job sites periodically
• Use of in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating)
• Develops relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned
