WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION: The Estimating Assistant supports the Estimating Department by preparing quote documentation, coordinating required information, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of estimates. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to support the overall estimating process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assign quote numbers and maintain accurate quote logs.
  • Create and organize quote folders for new opportunities.
  • Obtain freight quotes from approved carriers as needed.
  • Request preliminary project schedules from the Scheduling Department.
  • Prepare quotes using estimator cost worksheets and various quote templates.
  • Track deadlines and ensure estimates are submitted on time.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the estimating team.
  • Serve as back‑up to Debbie May, Customer Service Representative, when required.
  • Create project folders for awarded (captured) quotes and ensure proper documentation is filed.
