About The Position

Blue Cliff College seeks an Esthetics Instructor responsible for providing instruction in both the theory and practice of esthetics. This includes the application of cosmetic preparations, body treatments, body wraps, hydrotherapy, antiseptics, tonics, lotions, creams, or other skincare products; massaging, cleansing, or exfoliating the stratum corneum of the epidermis; stimulating, manipulating, grooming, or beautifying the face, neck, arms, hands, or body; applying makeup or eyelashes; and removing excess hair from any part of the body except the scalp.

Requirements

  • Possession of Cosmetology/Esthetician licensure through the applicable state board.
  • Cosmetology/Esthetician Instructor’s License is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist/esthetician with familiarity in all industry aspects.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient instructional abilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and develop programs and curricula meeting industry needs.
  • Capability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver performance-based objectives and course outlines per curriculum guidelines and the requirements of college, state, and federal initiatives.
  • Organize programs of practical and technical instruction, including skill demonstrations and theoretical lectures; prepare instructional materials and study outlines.
  • Teach students proper tool and equipment usage, maintenance, and safety, as well as regulations related to the Esthetics Program.
  • Instruct students on important attributes such as accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits essential for employment as Estheticians.
  • Assign lessons, correct homework, and administer tests to assess students' technical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Maintain records of daily attendance and student progress, reporting to Lead Instructor and Registrar.
  • Utilize diverse methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions, or demonstrations, ensuring organized use of classroom time and effective instruction and clean-up.
  • Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts; respond to basic student questions; facilitate study groups for examination preparation.
  • Enforce classroom protocols, rules, and regulations; maintain discipline and employ effective classroom management techniques.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the Lead Instructor, Program Chair, or Director of Education; participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development workshops.
  • File an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught with the Program Chair.
  • Conduct class evaluations and complete other college evaluations following college policy.
  • Offer suggestions to the Program Chair for curriculum improvement aligned with the college's objectives.
