The End-Stage Renal Disease Quality Incentive Program (ESRD QIP) Validation Specialist serves as a dialysis subject matter expert supporting the successful completion of validation activities in accordance with CMS ESRD QIP Final Rule, NHSN Dialysis Event reporting, and the CMS contract deliverables. This position manages validation workflows and timelines, collaborates with Palmetto GBA’s IT validation systems, oversees dialysis provider medical record submission through guidance on documentation requirements and resolution of submission-related issues, and serves as a liaison with dialysis providers, medical reviewers, ESRD Networks, and CMS.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with 3 years of dialysis clinical experience
Experience with dialysis modalities, NHSN dialysis infection events, ESRD clinical performance measures, and ESRD medical record documentation interpretation
Experience with Palmetto’s clinical validation IT systems (e.g., iFlow, EMS)
Leadership and decision-making capability
Strong organizational skills to support management of validation workflows
Effective verbal and written communication across multidisciplinary audiences
Experience performing clinical documentation abstraction or quality reviews
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Organize and facilitate Microsoft Teams meetings

Responsibilities

Serve as an ESRD QIP validation subject matter expert in communications with the ESRD QIP team, maintaining current knowledge of ESRD QIP program requirements and annual quality measure updates.
Support preparation of timely and accurate CMS validation study deliverables and reports
Present ESRD QIP validation processes, program updates, updates and issues to clinical reviewers, leadership teams, and stakeholders
Oversee and coordinate dialysis provider medical record submission for ESRD QIP validation, including sending record requests to providers, clarifying documentation expectations, and resolving submission-related issues to support timely completion of validation activities.
Work directly with dialysis providers to obtain supplemental medical record documentation needed to resolve discrepancies and support accurate validation review.
Monitor project timeline to ensure compliance with CMS contract deliverables
Provide oversight and guidance to team members performing indexing and prescreening of medical records to ensure accurate system entry, validation readiness, and workflow efficiency.
Conduct prescreening of medical records to verify completeness and documentation accuracy prior to validation review
Track validation progress and report status metrics to leadership and ESRD Team and CMS
Supervise collaboration between internal IT teams and systems supporting ESRD QIP validation including MSAD, SADWH, Document Control, iFlow and EMS, and resolution of workflow barriers and issues impacting record submission, validation completeness and accuracy.
Maintain working relationships with dialysis providers and ESRD Networks nationwide to support ongoing successful participation in ESRD QIP validation
Support testing and implementation of validation program enhancements and annual updates with iFlow and EMS.
Coordinate and facilitate Microsoft Teams meetings to support ESRD QIP validation program
Collaborate with the ESRD QIP Validation Educator to communicate ESRD QIP program updates, support resolution of validation and workflow-related issues, and provide backup coverage for educator responsibilities as needed.
Perform medical record reviews as needed to meet contract goals.
