About The Position

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the county of Greene. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Position Title: ESL Instructor Division/Office: TJACE@PVCC Employment Type: Part time, hourly-classes are held in-person Location: TJACE Learning Center at IX Park Job Description: Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standards Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with TJACE@PVCC's instructional program. Develop and deliver lessons that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies to meet the needs and goals of students Address all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, Maintain complete and accurate records Provide a supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies/content Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement Participate in program's Professional Learning Community and staff meetings This position requires on site availability-classes are held in person with students

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and ESL teaching experience required.
• Outstanding personal and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• The ability to keep accurate records
• The ability to incorporate current technology into the classroom environment
• The ability to work with a diversity of individuals and groups
• Excellent problem solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans
• The ability to adapt to changing work priorities
