In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the ER Technician is responsible for assisting registered nurses and licensed practical nurses in the delivery of patient care. This role involves performing general care to ensure patient’s physical comfort, including hourly rounding, and executing assigned patient procedures such as vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, and CPR, while also assisting physicians and nurses. The technician will help meet the physical, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients across all age ranges, from neonate to geriatric. Key responsibilities also include maintaining supplies and equipment, ensuring the cleanliness of the Emergency Department, and complying with all safety and infection control standards. The ER Technician is expected to maintain necessary job knowledge and skills, promote a positive patient experience, and foster positive and caring relationships with patients and families through empathy and trust, utilizing A.I.D.E.T. in all interactions. The position also requires entering daily charges for patient care supplies and using proper channels for communication.
