About The Position

Responsible for the safe and productive operation and daily maintenance of equipment such as backhoes, dozers, hoe rams, boom truck, or specialty trucks, etc. working in specialty contract areas, i.e. gas pipeline or fiber optics

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency or a combination of education and training
  • Technical training in operating equipment such as backhoes, excavator, dozers, hoe rams, boom truck, or specialty trucks, etc.
  • At least two years’ experience required
  • Valid Driver’s License, preferably a CDL A/B
  • Valid (or must obtain) DC 7B Operator’s License
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited, lifting materials and equipment (up to 70 pounds unassisted), standing, climbing, walking, or using hands to operate/handle tools. Weight limits up to 300 lbs.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license, valid DOT card, and pass a MVR review (no more than 3 points on driving records). Candidates selected will be responsible for completing the BF Joy Drivers Qualification Paperwork, provide a copy of a 5-year certified driving record as part of the pre-employment process. The employee would be required to attend driver orientation, and a pass road test.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment in a safe and skilled manner in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and Joy policies and procedures. This may include operating a backhoe, hoe ram, boom truck, etc. safely and productively.
  • Excavate around utilities following Miss Utility Law and Joy’s locating procedures.
  • Operate equipment in or around congested areas.
  • Inspect work areas, prepare and place equipment in proper position. Direct placement of vehicles for loading and unloading of equipment.
  • Inspect and clean equipment; perform daily maintenance of equipment ensuring proper engine and hydraulic oil and other fluid levels are acceptable.
  • Maintain proper information, records and forms in accordance with company and manufacture procedures.
  • Assist crew in manual work in various degrees of performance to maintain job progress.
  • Cooperate and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, customers and the public.
  • Practice a “safety comes first” attitude by following Joy, OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
