The Equipment Maintenance Technician I supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of production and packaging equipment at a regulated pharmaceutical oral solid dose (OSD) manufacturing site. This hands-on role is responsible for preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, equipment troubleshooting, and mechanical/electrical support on a wide range of machinery including tablet presses, capsule fillers, coating systems, cartoners, and conveyors. Technicians ensure equipment reliability and readiness to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and safe work habits in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Follows SOPs, batch records, and lockout/tagout procedures under supervision.
  • Documents work performed accurately in the CMMS with support.
  • Reads and understands basic mechanical drawings and work instructions.
  • Supports changeover and cleaning tasks on automated equipment with minimal disruption to production.
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or maneuver tools, equipment, and parts up to 25lbs.
  • Must follow safe work practices including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and electrical safety procedures.
  • After-hours, weekend, or on-call support may be required for equipment troubleshooting, planned maintenance, shutdowns, or calibration activities.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods as required by role and assigned work.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school, technical training, or related internship experience
  • 0-2 years of relevant maintenance experience
  • Pharma or GMP-regulated maintenance experience

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Conduct basic mechanical tasks such as belt changes, lubrication, part replacements, and minor adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults using meters, diagrams, and OEM manuals.
  • Mechanical Systems Support Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, cams, bearings, conveyors, actuators, and mechanical drives.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, and service requests using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Document all work performed with clear, accurate, and traceable entries, in alignment with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Maintain flexibility and readiness to assist wherever needed to meet site performance, quality, or compliance requirements.
