General Summary The Epic Provider Support Trainer leads the Electronic Health Record (EHR) training program and ongoing support for provider staff. Provider Support will design an innovative curriculum, including virtual and eLearning, and help develop a structured ongoing support and continuing education program. Strong collaboration, coaching, and organization skills are essential.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred; a high school diploma is required.
  • 3-5 years of Epic experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and generate reports and documents.
  • Standing, walking, and sitting are required—moderate lifting 15 lbs is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification or accreditation is preferred.
  • RN or LPN licensure or experience in an applicable area of healthcare is preferred.
  • Must obtain Epic certification or accreditation within 90 days of completing required Epic training.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and manages Epic training environment builds and maintenance, implements any change requests to existing applications, educates staff on changes, reviews release notes, and prepares for planned upgrades.
  • Consult and develop relationships with department leaders, providers, and frontline employees to identify performance gaps and develop appropriate learning interventions and solutions to meet business and provider needs using best practices and instructional design principles.
  • Understands and interprets clinical and non-clinical workflows, processes, and terminology to translate information into educationally sound training content.
  • Classroom and virtual training delivery to provider staff; preparation of lesson plans, including methods, materials, and documentation for class.
  • Knowledge management and development of eLearning, including ongoing education and provider efficiency training.
  • Supports continuous improvement by developing and transferring Epic application expertise to teammates to encourage collaboration to carry out team initiatives successfully.
  • Assist department leaders and providers on education needs outside the classroom to offer additional support for training as required, including on-call phone coverage during business hours.
