Environmental Technician
About The Position
The Environmental Technician, Bay Area R&D, will report directly to the Environmental Operations Sr. EHS Manager/Staff EHS Specialist and take responsibility for tasks associated with the collection and handling of hazardous waste materials from Tesla's R&D locations. This role is ideal for a self-driven communicator who excels in cross-functional teams and prides themselves on strong computer skills, analytical abilities, organization, and attention to detail. Based in the Fremont, CA, this position involves travel to other Bay Area R&D sites and requires on-call availability.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experienec in a high-tech industry or similar environment
- HAZWOPER, DOT, RCRA training certification
- Valid driver's license required and able to operate assigned fleet
- Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word, with strong overall computer literacy and the ability to adapt to various software tools
Nice To Haves
- Ideal experience in hazardous waste management in R&D or laboratory settings with familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance standards
Responsibilities
- Perform routine collection of hazardous waste containers from lab processes as required
- Conduct site inspections and generate accurate reports
- Provide emergency spill response, cleanup and perform decontamination and equipment cleaning
- Ensure proper packaging of hazardous waste to maintain regulatory compliance
- Ensure hazardous waste containers are properly labeled, conduct manifesting and prepped for shipment
- Provide on-call coverage for PTO, training, weekend work, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all Tesla requirements for managing hazardous waste
