About The Position

At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. We are looking for a motivated person with a passion for the environment to join our Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM), a nationally recognized leader in traditional and innovative waste materials management, at our Southwest District Office in Dayton, Ohio. Interested in traveling around Ohio to protect our environment? In this position, you’ll ensure Ohio’s waste management facilities are constructed and operated in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. This includes traveling to waste disposal sites to conduct compliance inspections and investigate complaints. In cases where enforcement is necessary, you’ll develop strategies for bringing facilities back into compliance. When not in the field, you’ll review technical documents and prepare reports pertaining to existing and proposed DMWM facilities. You’ll also review and evaluate waste management programs and plans for local health districts to determine their compliance with state standards. We’ll lean on your subject knowledge and customer service skills to provide effective outreach, technical assistance, and education on proper waste management rules and operations to the regulated community, local officials, health departments, and the public. Let’s recap: Conduct compliance inspections of solid waste, infectious waste, and construction and demolition facilities. Review and evaluate waste management programs for local health districts. When necessary, develop strategies for bringing facilities back into compliance. Provide outreach and technical assistance to internal and external constituents. Don’t ‘waste’ this opportunity to join Ohio EPA! Apply today. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis).
