About The Position

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Environmental Industrial Hygiene team. This role is responsible to ensure that all required tasks on a project from proposal to final invoice payment are completed either by themselves or by subordinates. The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for the completion and overall success of the project. The Senior Project Manager will act as the main point of contact for the client on their projects. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, or other related environmental degree applicable to Environmental Consulting such as Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a related Engineering field.
  • 7+ years of Industrial Hygiene related experience
  • Experience with asbestos, mold, lead-based paint, legionella, dust, radon, and indoor air quality, industrial health and safety, and OSHA compliance
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications
  • Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods
  • Extensive ability to manage and develop new clients. Seek out opportunities to develop relationships with clients
  • Review and provide feedback of field and laboratory testing by others. Perform training and/or corrective action as necessary
  • Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients
  • Experience delegating/assigning projects and tasks to other staff while also managing other projects independently

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is desired, but not required
  • Experience with the District of Columbia Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) Air Quality Analysis and EISF process is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, drinking water, legionella, dust, radon, and indoor air quality assessments and analysis
  • Support District of Columbia Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) air quality analysis and the Environmental Impact Statement Framework (EISF) process
  • Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team
  • Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary
  • Market our services. Maintain and further develop the client database
  • Strong ability to manage project budgets and prepare change orders. Manage your project budgets and oversee project budgets of others as assigned. Review change orders and invoices. Assist with collection efforts
  • Scheduling, training and oversight of subordinate staff members
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Oversee environmental projects and responsible for several projects being performed simultaneously
  • Assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff
  • Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders
  • Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis and provide recommendations. Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports from junior staff
  • Perform peer/senior review of deliverables prior to submission for Principal review
  • Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions
  • Collaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions
  • Review daily reports produced by field staff. Perform routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress. Mentor junior staff as needed. Communicate project completion milestones with client and advise on any significant directional changes.
  • Direct site activities and maintain continuous communication with subordinate field staff and senior managers on several projects concurrently
  • Solid understanding of sample collection, preparation, preservation and laboratory submission regulations and guidelines.
  • Independently prepare reports to be reviewed by a Principal. Review reports that are completed by subordinates prior to Principal review. Lead client meetings and or calls to present/discuss report findings and conclusions.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies.
  • Communicate with junior staff to direct field work performed by subcontractors and other ECS technicians and other field staff. Likely will require managing and/or performing multiple projects simultaneously.
