About The Position

You will be the Environmental, Safety and Health Engineer, supporting the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) Orlando Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) for program development, oversight, and management. What You Will Be Doing As the Environmental, Safety and Health Engineer, you will closely interface with other MFC departments and functional ESH staff on multiple areas of engagement and cross-functional support of the business while driving continual improvement and innovative solutions. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies Investigate close call/near-miss incidents for the facility Manages new equipment evaluation processes to ensure compliance with electrical safety program Drive collaboration with engineering Labs to enhance opportunities for improvement on meeting environmental, safety & health compliance Manage department metrics Evaluate employee tasks and facility operations to ensure OSHA, EPA & State and Local Regulations are met Represent MFC Orlando on Working Groups and other specialty programs upon request Why Join Us The ideal candidate is a collaborative professional who thrives on solving complex safety challenges and driving measurable improvement. Requirements

  • Formal education in related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Related experience supporting research and development, industrial operations and production, and field service operations
  • Pursuit of industry recognized certifications in the Safety, Health or Environmental disciplines
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven ability to identify hazards associated with processes and perform root cause analysis
  • Experienced technical report writing
  • Lean process orientation with experience using lean six sigma tools
  • Ability to identify an issue, identify solutions and provide insights to customers and leadership on appropriate courses of action relative to continued business performance and results
  • Experience with regulator engagement, response, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Experience presenting to various levels of an organization and ability to adjust the message depending on the audience
  • Strong communication skills with an orientation to a positive customer experience
  • Demonstrate initiative to work independently with a proactive attitude
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

  • Lean oriented individual that is aligned to a team environment and open to growth in environmental, safety or health disciplines
  • Experience working with common, industry recognized, management systems such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, VPP, etc.
  • Proven ability to innovate for improving program effectiveness
  • Budget management and financial acumen
  • Lean six sigma black belt or green belt
  • Master’s Degree in associated discipline
  • Prior background in ordnance safety
