About The Position

What we are looking for SCS Engineers is seeking a Project Manager to join our growing Naperville, IL team. Our Naperville office focuses on waste diversion and waste management. We strive to identify innovative ways to repurpose materials and keep them out of landfills whenever possible. At the same time, we are committed to providing safe and environmentally responsible waste management and disposal solutions. Whether you’re already managing projects in the waste management and diversion space or are ready to step into this leadership role, we’re excited to help you grow professionally while making a meaningful environmental impact. You may work hybrid out of our Naperville office. How you can make an impact You will oversee and guide projects with support from senior team members, collaborating with clients, regulators, and internal staff to deliver high-quality work. You will transition into managing the entire project lifecycle, from scoping and budgeting to work distribution, invoicing, and project close-out. You will take ownership of your projects and contribute to the success of SCS Engineers by:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of engineering required. Civil, Environmental, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • 8+ years in engineering or environmental consulting, with a focus on waste diversion, landfill design, permitting, or sustainable materials management.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience is preferred but not required.
  • P.E. registration or ability to obtain within one year is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects in the waste management and waste diversion industries.
  • Coordinating work with clients, regulators, contractors, and team members.
  • Preparing budgets, schedules, invoices, and project deliverables.
  • Providing mentorship and distributing tasks to team members, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Communicating project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with regulators to ensure project compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Preparing and reviewing calculations, reports, and design documents for engineering projects, including landfill design, permitting, and environmental compliance.
  • Assisting with the development of waste diversion strategies and sustainable materials management.
  • Conducting quality control reviews of work products, including reports, design plans, and data analysis.
  • Supporting environmental sampling, monitoring, and construction quality assurance activities as needed.
  • Leading and mentoring staff to foster professional growth.
  • Reviewing and approving work completed by team members.
