About The Position

BEM Systems, LLC (BEM). —an environmental consulting firm providing comprehensive environmental services —is hiring Full-Time Environmental Professional to join the dynamic team based out of our Anchorage, AK office. We are excited to offer this opportunity to an Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist who is ready to launch their career in environmental services. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects that make a meaningful impact. As part of a growing national firm with an expanding backlog of interesting and challenging projects across Alaska, you will have the chance to build a strong technical foundation while exploring diverse environmental services related to remediation and regulatory compliance. You will work side-by-side with experienced Project Managers, Engineers, Geologists, and Scientists who are invested in mentoring and supporting early-career professionals. In this role, you will assist with field investigations, implement sampling plans, analyze environmental data, and help prepare tables and reports that contribute directly to project outcomes. You will primarily support projects authorized by the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, gaining valuable exposure to federal work and large-scale programs. As BEM continues to grow nationally, you may also have opportunities to collaborate with and support teams in other offices, broadening your experience and professional network. Requirements

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in environmental or site remediation work, including exposure to sampling plans, field investigations, and technical report writing (internships and academic field experience welcome)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
  • A self-motivated, collaborative team player who is eager to learn and grow
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort traveling to remote sites, including by small aircraft, helicopter, and/or four-wheelers
  • A strong commitment to safety and following established field protocols
  • Ability to obtain required security clearances for work on active military installations
  • Capacity to perform well in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing field conditions
  • Willingness to work extended hours during the field season as projects require

Responsibilities

  • Supporting field investigations (soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water). Includes coordination of field events, soil characterization and field screening, oversight of monitoring well installations and abandonments, annual groundwater monitoring, oversight of soil and groundwater remediation activities, collection of waste characterization samples, and oversight of demolition projects.
  • Providing office support for projects, including supporting the preparation of permits, work plans, and technical reports.
