About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Associate Geologist / Environmental Scientist to join our team! Our team uses the latest technologies and methodologies to perform environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation, delivering a cleaner, safer planet for our customers and future generations. In this role you will get to perform a variety of geological and environmental tasks. Willingness to perform field work and to travel to field sites (up to 70% of the time) is a key element of this role. Over time, the position will shift to more office-based work and less field work as your career is propelled forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field and typically 0+ years of related work experience

  • A familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work arrangement. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Parsons office (Denver area), virtual office at your own home, and project locations throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, California, and potentially other states. The candidate for this position shall be located in the Denver area.
  • A valid driver’s license, the ability and willingness to travel to and from field locations up to 70% of the time
  • Should be able-bodied as the work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activities
  • Work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
  • Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories
  • Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
  • Soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
  • Assist with supervision of drillers and other subcontractors
  • Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority
  • Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms
  • Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry
  • Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting
  • Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections
  • Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field work
  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists
  • Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
