The SGS Alaska Division, a full-service environmental laboratory in Alaska for over 50 years, is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Technician. This is a full-time, seasonal, hourly position eligible for overtime pay in Anchorage, AK. The role involves working in an ISO accredited laboratory, analyzing various matrices for environmental pollutants, and providing local service to Alaskan clients. The position offers opportunities to advance scientific knowledge and gain non-academic laboratory experience through extensive onboarding training in various departments.

Requirements

• Scientific knowledge from your BA/BS
• Strong work ethic from your Service and Retail positions
• Expected to work overtime when workload requires
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations

Responsibilities

• Work on bench chemistry methods, including colorimetric, gravimetric, and potentiometric techniques in the Waters Department
• Work with strong acids using HotBlock and AutoBlock techniques in the Metals digestions department
• Work with Solid Phase, Liq/Liq, and Horn Sonication techniques in the Organic Extractions department
• Receive samples and log them into our LIMS following the CoC in the Sample Control department
• Prepare sample kits and transfer samples throughout the whole laboratory
• Help provide local service to Alaskan clients that report to government regulatory agencies and private individuals
• Potentially work in VOA prep, TCLP and WeighRoom
