The location in Plymouth, (North Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Environmental Lab Analyst. This job is full-time permanent. Domtar’s Plymouth, NC pulp mill is seeking an Environmental Lab Analyst to support environmental compliance through laboratory and field sampling, testing, and documentation. This role offers opportunities to gain hands ‑on laboratory and field experience while developing technical and regulatory knowledge in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years full or part-time work/school experience. Candidates must have a minimum of 24 months steady work history with no major gaps in employment history (recent layoffs and graduations will be taken into consideration).
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to pass a written assessment, panel interview, pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, and a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain Grade IV Biological Wastewater Operator Certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Collect and analyze environmental and process samples (wastewater, stormwater, drinking water, condensate, solids).
  • Perform basic and advanced chemical and biological testing to meet wastewater treatment and NPDES permit standards.
  • Prepare samples, glassware, and equipment; maintain laboratory housekeeping.
  • Accurately complete calculations, analysis, and written/electronic documentation.
  • Maintain, operate, and perform minor repairs on laboratory and field equipment.
  • Coordinate sample collection and support process evaluation.
  • Operate a boat for river sampling, as required.
  • Participate in special projects and studies as assigned.
  • Follow and enforce safety rules and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly, follow written and oral instructions, and work effectively with others.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn and assist with air, solid waste, and hazardous waste duties.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
