About The Position

VHB’s Providence, RI office is looking for a Part-Time Environmental Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2026. This internship may assist with our Water Resources, Site Investigation and Remediation, and Natural Resources teams.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with teammates
• Willingness to support different engineering disciplines
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• Good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science or related field
• VHB does not provide housing for internships.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a wide array of water resources related studies and analysis including: Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater systems, analysis and design of conveyance systems, design of stormwater management facilities, coastal impacts, and floodplain analysis
• Conduct data collection and field work
• Analysis of impaired watersheds and identification of potential areas for stormwater treatment
• Support projects related to stormwater permitting compliance for municipal, industrial and transportation clients
• Wetland delineations
• Threatened and endangered species surveys
• Plant identification and vegetation inventory
