About The Position

The EHS Specialist supports field operations, maintenance activities, industrial service projects, asbestos abatement and more by implementing and managing environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across all work sites. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2–5+ years of EHS experience in asbestos, oil & gas, industrial services, or heavy industry.
  • Equivalent field experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to conduct training and communicate effectively with field crews.
  • Strong problem-solving and incident investigation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google and safety management software.
  • Ability to travel and work in varying outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and other regulatory agencies and industry-specific regulations (e.g., API, NFPA).
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA/JSA), safety observations, and field audits.
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain and update company safety programs, policies, and site-specific plans.
  • Training & Workforce Development Deliver safety training such as HAZWOPER, confined space entry, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, spill response, and equipment-specific topics.
  • Track employee certifications, medical clearances, and competency records.
  • Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental Compliance Oversee spill prevention, waste handling, hazardous materials management, and environmental reporting.
  • Provide guidance on air emissions, water discharge compliance, and stormwater or erosion control where applicable.
  • Support environmental monitoring, sampling, and inspections.
  • Field Support Provide on-site EHS support for abatement, demolition, remediation, tank cleaning, vacuum truck operations, emergency response, and industrial services.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, tailgate meetings, and permitting processes.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and coordinate with project managers and supervisors.
  • Create safety plans and emergency evacuation plans Create confined space plans
  • Documentation & Reporting Maintain safety metrics, incident logs, inspection reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist with customer-required reporting, safety audits, and performance reviews.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
