About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supporting an aircraft modification, maintenance and repair facility in Waco, TX. The EHS Specialist supports the development, administration and continuous improvement of EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, local, and customer requirements. The EHS Specialist will support performance toward meeting company injury rate and environmental sustainability goals, as well as continuous improvement and validation of their EHS compliance requirements. This role: Supports implementation of all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs. Serves as the subject matter expert in EHS to the Operations, Engineering, and Program Management/Development organizations. Reports directly to the EHS Manager for the facility. Supported by a network of EHS professionals and corporate leadership within L3Harris. Works in environments that are a mix of manufacturing, assembly, repair, engineering, program development, and office activities. 9-80 schedule is available, with availability to support additional shifts or programs as required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Ability to conduct EHS regulatory compliance audits and work with other departments to address gaps.
Experience conducting incident investigations and determining root causes and corrective actions.
Strong technical understanding of environmental and safety regulations and practices.
Practical experience supporting the development and implemention of EHS&S programs and trainings.
Ability to research technical information as required.
Ability to manage time and projects across multiple programs.Strong computer skills related to Microsoft office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

EHS-related professional accreditations: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, etc.
Involvement in high performance programs: VPP, ISO 45001, 14001
Prefer candidate with experience in both safety and environmental programs
Experience using and leveraging EHS&S common systems, such as Gensuite and Sphera
Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills
Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations.
Ability to use data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI to analyze data for use in developing proactive prevention plans
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).

Responsibilities

Supports all aspects of EHS&S performance, including injury reduction and avoidance, environmental sustainability initiatives, and meeting EHS&S regulatory and company requirements.
Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits, risks assessments, etc. and advises management of conditions requiring corrective action and tracks resolutions to an effective closure.
Focuses on continuous improvement and management of change of EHS&S programs in processes, systems, and products. Focus areas: Ergonomics, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Hazard and Risk Assessments, Hazardous Waste Large Quantity Generator, Air Quality and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
Supports incident investigations and data/trend analysis to determine root cause, produces and maintains necessary documentation and ensures that all applicable reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure dissemination of ownership responsibilities for regulatory, corporate, and internal obligations throughout all business functions. Develop written programs to define and training programs to disseminate these responsibilities. Audit work practices to ensure adherence by employees and enforcement by management.
Remains current with all applicable regulations and company policies.
Must be physically able to stand and walk for long periods at a time.
Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory and L3Harris requirements, to include but not limited to site permits and licenses, training, certifications, inspections, audits, etc.
Supports the standardization of EHS processes across the enterprise.
Performs related duties or special projects as directed.
