Job Responsibilities: Directs and implements activities to ensure continued compliance to Magna EHS policies, processes, procedures, and audit requirements. Responsible for safety and environmental management systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Three - five (3-5) years relative experience
  • Solid understanding of applicable HSE codes (building, fire, mechanical (HVAC)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical personnel from a broad range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Ability to deal with issues in a confidential manner.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and technical presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement all department policies & standards that pertain to Magna HSE requirements.
  • Responsible for obtaining certificates of insurance from outside services and managing all facility vendors.
  • Act as a liaison to various team members of other divisions including but not limited to Magna Environmental Department and utility representatives.
  • Develops internal audit plan, coordinates scheduling, and reviews internal audit reports for accuracy and completion.
  • Analyzes, summarizes, maintains all records related to audits, and reports results and trends to Management and the auditee.
  • Provides communication to Management regarding potential areas of nonconformance risk.
  • Trains employees to ensure compliance to policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement, and initiates action to address opportunities to improve.
  • Perform periodic facility safety inspections.
  • Comply with all formalized regulations (OSHA, MIOSHA, ISO section 6.3, EPA, DEQ, MDEQ and Magna corporate)
  • Work with EH&S in developing, documenting, implementing, and training of health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedure.
  • Record work injuries, accidents, or hazard reports (working with EH&S on recommending solutions) maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage all aspects of Magna’s health & safety audit and environmental audit, including all open action items, training requirements, records and policy development and implementation.
  • Assist with processing of injury, illness, accident and hazard reports, including initiating and recommending solutions.
  • Provides guidance to department supervisors and managers.
  • Maintains documentation as required by the local, state, federal and various Magna groups concerning health & safety and environmental issues. (OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, DEQ, MDEQ and Magna corporate)
  • Assists management with maintaining a program for achieving targets and objectives and recommending solutions for continuous improvement, as needed.
  • Notify Management immediately, if there is reason to believe that any equipment, or physical condition of the workplace is likely to endanger the employee or co-worker, or is in contravention of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Michigan’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA).
  • Ensure employees work in the manner consistent with the organizations established objectives and targets utilizing protective equipment, devices, measures, and procedures as promulgated by state and federal regulations.
  • Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety.
  • Complete safety talks, safety meetings, and required training occur, as defined
