About The Position

Develop and support a comprehensive, empowered safety culture within a dynamic research and development environment. Build, administer, and instruct safety training, procedures, and compliance systems tailored to the various internal audiences. Partner with internal teams including facilities, lab management, supply chain, human resources, finance, and technical teams to achieve objectives and maintain a safe and compliant workplace. Proactively engage with employees at all levels to better understand their concerns and work hazards, as well as facilitate all aspects of daily safe work conduct. Continually assess environment, health, and safety risks of Zap Energy operations and make recommendations to teams and company leaders. Provide technical expertise in occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, and sustainability. Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents for all sites and ensures timely completion of corrective actions. Lead the team in developing effective root cause analysis and countermeasures. Keep up to date on regulatory requirements and industry trends. Proactively plan for and share considerations with leadership for future facilities, processes, equipment, suppliers, and materials. Engage with relevant consultants, external agencies, and other regulatory organizations at the local, state, and national level.

Requirements

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field
  • Manager - Required: 10+ years of total EHS experience 3+ years of experience managing an EHS team 5+ years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environment Demonstrated ability to develop, deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizations Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills
  • Specialist – Required: 7+ years of total EHS experience 5+ years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environment Demonstrated ability to develop, deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizations Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills
