About The Position

The Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Generalist works with site EH&S and Operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. You will support Collins Aerospace standards and the implementation and oversight for high-risk control programs in a complex manufacturing environment. The EH&S Generalist is an essential role on-site in Carroll, IA. Frequent travel to West Des Moines location is desired.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Education or experience in EH&S regulatory compliance, safety culture, and/or EH&S management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace hazard analyses/assessments, coordinating team involvement for the identification and implementation of corrective actions/controls to mitigate risks.
  • Partner with the leadership team and line supervision to ensure the best EH&S practices and standard work are relentlessly driven across the site.
  • Work on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups external to and within the core EH&S team.
  • Oversee, review, update and implement the facility environmental, health and safety programs, permits, reports, training, and procedures.
  • Drive the hazard risk assessment strategy, program evaluation, audits and other required EH&S initiatives.
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses.
  • Drive action plans to meet goals, to ensure compliance, and to improve customer service, employee engagement and continuous improvement efforts in EH&S operations.
