About The Position

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for leading, implementing, and continuously improving all aspects of the site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. This role provides technical expertise, drives compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, partners with leadership to influence culture, and ensures robust risk reduction initiatives aligned with a Zero Incident Culture. The position plays a critical role in deploying the MESH (Management System of Environmental, Safety and Health) framework and in supporting operational excellence across the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy operations environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting OSHA regulations, environmental/chemical compliance, facilities compliance, security and/or emergency response.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated success in hazard identification, risk reduction, and incident investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience implementing or supporting an EHS management system (MESH, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
  • Lead and direct risk assessments to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects throughout the facility as well as works station risk assessments, implementing corrective actions and engineering/administrative controls.
  • Engineering & Technical Support
  • Identify and implement risk reduction opportunities related to EHS and operational improvements.
  • Determine safe manufacturing methods and sustainability improvement projects that require advanced project management.
  • Evaluate, specify, and support implementation of new or existing machine tools, equipment, and automation to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in identifying high risk activity, lead problem solving events, and ensure that corrective actions are sustained.
  • Performance Metrics, Indicators & Reporting
  • Partner with EHS and operations leadership to develop performance targets and objectives aligned with key risks. Track and analyze leading and lagging indicators to evaluate site EHS performance through KPI dashboards, scorecards, and metrics reporting (including MESH Prism data entry and corrective action tracking).
  • Lead incident investigations, develop action plans, and trend incident data for OSHA 300 recordkeeping.
  • MESH Implementation & Leadership
  • Lead and support the implementation of the MESH management system across the facility. Participate in and co-lead MESH teams, using MESH tools to drive system-level improvements.
  • Train and mentor MESH Element Owners/Champions to build organizational competency and ownership.
  • Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
  • Support and maintain environmental compliance programs, including wastewater permits, sampling requirements, solid waste, and stormwater management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance, sustainability, and lifecycle waste management.
  • Operational & Cultural Leadership
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the EHS Committee and operations project teams.
