About The Position

The Environ Health & Safety Coordinator will assist in the implementation of safety programs and initiatives to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves conducting regular plant inspections to identify hazards, supporting incident reporting and investigations, and coordinating employee training on environmental permits, safety procedures, emergency response, and PPE usage. The coordinator will also help monitor and maintain PPE inventory, promote safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance with agencies like OSHA, EPA, and SC DES, and support the preparation of required safety and environmental reports. Additionally, the position assists with emergency preparedness drills, waste management practices to minimize environmental impact, and contributes to continuous improvement of EHS policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of safety programs and initiatives to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the plant to identify potential hazards and safety concerns (e.g., machinery, electrical systems, chemical handling) and help ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support the tracking and documentation of workplace accidents, near-misses, injuries, and safety concerns.
  • Participate in investigations to determine root causes and assist in recommending improvements.
  • Assist in the scheduling and coordination of employee training on environmental permits, safety procedures, emergency response, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Help monitor and maintain PPE inventory, ensuring proper distribution, usage, and compliance with safety standards across the plant.
  • Collaborate with the facility EHS Manager to promote safety culture and awareness through signage, meetings, and ongoing communication.
  • Assist in ensuring the plant remains compliant with OSHA, EPA, SC DES and other regulatory agencies.
  • Support the preparation and submission of required safety and environmental reports to governmental agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation procedures) and maintenance of emergency response plans.
  • Support efforts to minimize environmental impact by assisting with waste management practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute ideas to improve EHS policies and practices within the plant.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Conway Facility EHS Manager and the Aalberts IPSA EHS Director.
