Excel Engineering is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated Entry Level Validation Engineer for our Mounds View, Minnesota office. We offer full service Electrical & Controls System Engineering Consulting services in the US and abroad.   • Gains an understanding of control system and network architecture fundamentals to develop and execute test scripts in a safe and compliant manner with little to no intervention from control system/automation personnel.
  • Authors/develops system specifications and test protocols.
  • Manages the review and approval of documents in electronic document management system.
  • Authors and revises supporting qualification documents such as traceability matrices, risk assessments, and validation project plans for new and existing computerized systems, respectively.
  • Executes test protocols for business computer systems and processes control systems in a GMP manufacturing environment. Scope includes PLC, HMI, application server, batch management, data historian, and associated business systems.
  • Gains an understanding of industry standards and best practices including GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11 for system qualification and necessary GMP documentation standards.
  • Coordinates with other groups such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, and IT to create/revise documents and change controls and to facilitate document review/approval.
  • Bachelors or Masters’ Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 Scale.
  • Ability to write and speak in the English language.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical software.
  • Knowledge of MS Office software products: Word/Excel/Outlook.
  • Exposure to PLC logic, HMI interface logic, system communications, elementary diagrams, control panel layouts or instrument specifications is preferred.
  • Interest in developing skills in the areas of computer systems validation and life cycle management is highly preferred.
  • Interest and experience with computer programming are highly preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) registration or ability to obtain such is highly preferred.
