About The Position

The Entry‑Level Tool & Die Maker supports the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of weld fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling used in production and special‑purpose machinery. Under the guidance of senior toolmakers and engineers, this role develops foundational skills in precision machining, fixture building, and mechanical assembly while contributing to safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma, apprenticeship enrollment, or relevant training in Tool & Die, machining, or manufacturing technology.
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and mechanical principles.
  • Ability to read simple engineering prints (willingness to learn complex GD&T).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from senior toolmakers.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands‑on experience in a machine shop (school, internship, or entry‑level job).
  • Exposure to welding fixtures, jigs, or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM, or measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building, modifying, and repairing weld fixtures, holding fixtures, and basic tooling.
  • Perform basic machining operations (milling, turning, drilling, grinding) with supervision.
  • Help assemble and fit fixture components to ensure proper function and accuracy.
  • Support the build and assembly of components for custom and special‑purpose machines.
  • Work with senior team members to integrate mechanical, pneumatic, or automation elements.
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, and 3D models.
  • Work with engineering and experienced toolmakers to understand fixture design requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting fixture issues such as wear, misalignment, or performance problems.
  • Participate in routine maintenance tasks to extend tooling life and improve reliability.
  • Suggest improvement ideas as skills develop.
  • Use basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators) to verify part accuracy.
  • Follow all company safety standards and maintain an organized, safe workspace.
  • Ensure fixtures support quality and production standards.
