About The Position
Cox Fleet, a leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, is offering an opportunity through its FleeTec Academy. This paid educational program is designed to train individuals to become full-time Diesel & Trailer Technicians, addressing the high costs associated with traditional technical schools and tool acquisition. The program includes four weeks of intensive, full-time classroom training at the Academy Campus, with all travel expenses, hotel accommodation, meals, and a weekly paycheck covered. Upon successful completion of the initial classroom phase, participants are paired with a Lead Technician in their market for hands-on training and offered a full-time position as a Mobile Diesel Mechanic. Technicians are provided with a state-of-the-art vehicle to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at customer locations, rather than emergency roadside repairs. The program also includes ongoing classroom study for continuous skill development, and upon multi-year completion, participants will be certified Diesel Technicians, retaining the provided tools.
Requirements
- Desire to start a career as a Diesel & Trailer Technician and become one of our Mobile Mechanics
- Willingness and ability to study hard
- Dedicate four (4) weeks away from home to be with us
- Maturity level to focus on the task at hand
- Technical aptitude and a passion for fixing vehicles
- Ability to operate iPad
- Successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment
- Be at least 21 years or older (due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations)
- Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required
- Hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license
- Be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship (No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future)
Nice To Haves
- A High-School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education is preferred, but not required
- A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical
Responsibilities
- Study hard for four (4) weeks of full-time schooling at the Academy Campus
- Participate in further hands-on training with a Lead Technician in your market
- Perform vehicle repairs at customers’ locations using a state-of-the-art vehicle
- Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs onsite at customer locations
- Keep developing skill set through further classroom study
