What You’ll Do: Responsible for leading the Risk Management team members and Royal Credit Union's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) model and program, Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program, Business Continuity Management (BCM) program, and Physical Security program. This includes developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-wide risk and resilience programs that are innovative and scalable to Royal's continued growth. This position provides expert guidance on enterprise risk practices, emerging risks, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation opportunities. This role integrates risk management into business operations, ensures an effective risk culture, and delivers insightful reporting to senior leadership, the Board, and committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in experience in a related field such as Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other Business Management related degree
  • Three (3) years experience in risk management principles and programs, including experience designing and implementing risk initiatives across an organization
  • Two (2) years experience in Enterprise Risk Management principles and models
  • Foundational project management skills including consultation, collaboration, project planning, analysis, and implementation skills
  • Previous leadership experience in leading cross functional projects or teams
  • Enterprise Risk & Governance Expertise: Deep understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, third‑party risk, business continuity, physical security, and regulatory expectations, with the ability to translate risk concepts into practical business solutions.
  • Strategic & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify emerging risks, assess impacts, and recommend effective mitigation strategies aligned with Royal’s risk appetite.
  • Technology & Data Proficiency: Working knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms and strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams to support data‑driven reporting and communication.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross‑functional partners, and foster a strong risk‑aware culture through coaching, mentoring, and relationship‑building.
  • Clear & Transparent Communication: Ability to communicate complex risk topics clearly and confidently to senior leadership, committees, regulators, and team members at all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience including managing teams, strong coaching and development skills
  • Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert designation or Certified Enterprise Risk Manager designation, and/or Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager designation; or the ability to obtain certification upon hire
