About The Position

The Oil & Gas Division of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) has an opening for an Engineering Technician Permitting position to work in the Bismarck, ND office. The Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil & gas in North Dakota. Our mission is to promote the responsible development and use of these resources by preventing waste, maximizing economic recovery, and protecting the rights of all stakeholders-landowners, royalty owners, producers, and the public-to ensure the greatest overall good from these vital natural resources. As an Engineering Technician in the Permitting department, you will play a key role in the Oil & Gas Division's mission by aiding the permit manager in accurately and efficiently processing oil & gas drilling permits and permit modifications. You will review permit applications to ensure accuracy, verify all required information has been received and request additional information as necessary. Other duties include processing renewals, cancellations, well name changes, reviewing completion reports, assisting in various programs and answering questions from the public. To thrive in this role, you must be detail oriented, with good organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. Must be a self-motivated problem solver with strong basic math skills. Needs to have a positive attitude and good customer service skills, with the ability to break down complicated information and explain it to others in an understandable manner both verbally and in writing. Should be a continuous learner, who takes pride in learning new things and mentoring others to succeed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in basic math
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Nice To Haves
