About The Position

This position is accountable for performing inspection, sampling, testing and reporting for various construction materials originating in the district.Essential Functions: Performs adequate inspections including sampling and testing of material produced in the district. Prepares all required documents and reports in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains a working relationship with producers’ and suppliers’ personnel. Uses field and laboratory equipment properly. Serves in capacities as directed by the Materials Engineer. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum; OR two years of engineering experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QC/QA) classes as assigned.
  • Extensive districtwide and occasional statewide travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Outdoor work in a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, production facilities, active construction sites and roads open to traffic.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
