About The Position

This role involves performing in-depth technical evaluations, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of Depot Level Repairable (DLRs), including detailed analysis of U.S. Navy electronics and subassemblies down to the component level. Responsibilities include providing technical support for resolving Fleet Casualty Reports (CASREPs), maintaining and updating bench stock repair parts, and accurately documenting parts usage and labor hours. The position also contributes to the development and refinement of testing methods, equipment, and work instructions to improve repair processes. Additionally, it requires conducting Beyond Economic Repair analyses on DLR materials returned from the fleet to determine cost-effectiveness and future disposition.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
  • 12 years with a degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Required: Must have electronics training from technical school, military school (class A or B electronics or Communications) or 4-year apprentice program.
  • Ability to use Multi Meter, Familiar with Spectrum Analyzer and Oscilloscope.
  • Ability to use and interpret wiring diagrams and schematic. Ability to do soldering.
  • An individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties: Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment) Plans an approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of the preliminary design Uses untried and untested measurement techniques and improves the performance of the equipment. May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies; plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) unusual combination of techniques or components. Arranges for the fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
  • An individual shall be capable of independently planning and accomplishing complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity or serving as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering.
  • An individual may supervise or train and be assisted by lower-level technicians.
  • Completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives.

Responsibilities
