About The Position

An Engineering Technician 6 provides advanced technical support for evaluating, troubleshooting, and repairing Depot Level Repairable and shipboard SSEE systems. The role supports fleet operations by resolving CASREPs, maintaining bench stock, assisting with future demand analyses, and offering onsite or helpdesk assistance as needed. Responsibilities include reviewing installation drawings, participating in Tier I and II meetings, ensuring APL compliance, tracking maintenance progress, and performing Beyond Economical Repair analyses. The technician prepares detailed repair and testing reports, manages data in MS Access, and uses advanced electronic test equipment such as signal generators, multimeters, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
  • 12 years with a degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Required: Must have electronics training from technical school, military school (class A or B electronics or Communications) or 4 year apprentice program.
  • Ability to use Multi Meter, Familiar with Spectrum Analyzer and Oscilloscope.
  • Ability to use and interpret wiring diagrams and schematic. Ability to do soldering.
  • An individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties:
  • Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment)
  • Plans an approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques
  • Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system
  • Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of the preliminary design
  • Uses untried and untested measurement techniques, and improves the performance of the equipment.
  • May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies; plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) unusual combination of techniques or components.
  • Arranges for the fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
  • An individual shall be capable of independently planning and accomplishing complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity, or serving as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering.
  • An individual may supervise or train and be assisted by lower level technicians.
  • Completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical evaluations, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs of Depot Level Repairable (DLR)
  • Provide technical support to resolve Fleet Casualty Reports (CASREP’s)
  • Assist with maintaining and updating Bench Stock Repair Parts
  • Assist with Annual Future Demand Analysis (Technical maintenance requirements)
  • When necessary, provide onsite technical assistance/support to fleet activities
  • When necessary, provide fleet helpdesk support and serve as a technical liaison between the fleet and NAVSUP PBLO command
  • Review installation drawing packages
  • Attend weekly Tier I and Tier II meetings to review actions and make recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with Allowance Parts Lists
  • Provide oversight on maintenance schedule adherence and progress reports
  • Perform Beyond Economical Analyses on Depot Level Repairable (DLR) material returned from fleet - Assist gov't with developing, reviewing project documents
  • Possess working knowledge of shipboard SSEE_E, SSEE_F and SSEE Mods systems
  • Input daily repair log information using MS Access databases
  • Provide detailed repair and testing reports for PBLO items
  • Demonstrate expert experience using electronic test equipment such as (Signal Generators, Multimeters, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers)
