About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor provides hands-on technical support to manufacturing operations while leading engineering initiatives that improve quality, productivity, cost, and safety across the facility. This role oversees engineering floor support, MRB activities, process improvements, and cross-functional problem-solving, while also Supervising a CI Engineering staff and coordinating continuous improvement (CI) efforts.

Requirements

  • BSME, ASME or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a metal working environment preferred.
  • Possess Engineering leadership, strong research skills, excellent written and communication skills and proficiency in problem solving/troubleshooting.

  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma helpful.

Responsibilities

  • ENGINEERING FLOOR SUPPORT
  • Provide daily engineering support to Manufacturing operations.
  • Troubleshoot and permanently resolve engineering and manufacturing issues, including machining, grinding, presswork, and related processes.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Design, and Process Engineering to address issues related to part design, drawings, and processing.
  • Work with Tool Design, CNC Programming, and Tool Room personnel to resolve tooling and programming concerns.
  • Partner with suppliers and vendors to resolve outside-process and outsourced operation problems.
  • Support additional shop areas when other Engineering floor support team members are unavailable.
  • ROUTING STANDARDS & CHANGE REQUESTS
  • Review and approve or reject action-required change requests.
  • Update issued jobs and documentation as needed.
  • Purge existing stock of components or assemblies when revisions require it.
  • Submit permanent change requests and ensure documentation is updated accordingly.
  • Categorize and track change request issues chronologically for evaluation.
  • Identify recurring problems and initiate permanent resolution efforts.
  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT & PROCEDURAL SUPPORT
  • Process corrective action requests, employee suggestions, and internal procedure audits.
  • Support and promote 6S initiatives within department and personal work areas.
  • Prepare verbal and written reports, project documentation, testing results, and follow-up reporting for cost reduction and variance improvement projects.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and implement CI Engineering-related improvement projects, forming cross-functional teams with Manufacturing, Quality Control, Purchasing, and other Engineering groups.
  • Provide CI Engineering updates during daily production meetings.
  • Generate and deliver monthly CI activity reports for senior management.
  • Evaluate and assign action-required change request forms within the engineering team.
  • Provide guidance for DMR (Discrepant Material Report) dispositions and daily operational problem-solving.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for engineering personnel.
