About The Position

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager the Engineering supervises one or more sections of engineers and plans/directs the work of subordinates. Assures that work performed follows generally stated objectives and is completed on time and within budget. Estimates manpower, schedules completion dates, monitors progress, and evaluates the results of the position levels. Powering Vehicles, Motion, Work, and Lives since 1966.

Requirements

  • BSME, BSEE, or equivalent experience / degree; and five more years’ experience in manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering.
  • A high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of SPC methods, process and machine capability requirements, and lot control techniques.
  • Knowledge of Quality and Environmental systems.
  • Advance knowledge of APQP process.
  • Ability to write monthly reports which address a variety of operational matters.
  • Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process plans for new parts, time studies and prepare quotations for parts, review existing processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine equipment required and justification.
  • Liaise with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance departments on manufacturing concerns.
  • Investigate and plan industrial type activities such as, takt times, tooling studies, ergonomics, and safety reviews.
  • Review, Customer Focus Plans, Corrective Actions, and ECN’s to facilitate the timely closely of the above.
  • Assist in planning and coordinate introduction of new engineering analysis tools such as CAD, CAD/CAM systems, CAT, quotation worksheet.
  • Select equipment and material and subcontract sources.
  • Supervise installation and initial startup of equipment.
  • Perform and document machine tool capability studies.
  • Troubleshooting for production problems whenever needed.
  • Assign customers to the project engineers to co-ordinate quotations, program introduction, production run jobs, and problem solving.
  • Assign, train, develop and supervise the work of manufacturing engineers, student engineers, outside vendors and project assigned production and quality people.
  • Discuss proposed lay outs of new equipment with production managers and co-workers to ensure the requirements for all departments are considered.
  • Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.
  • Complete production and completion schedules to track process and progress of projects.
  • Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • Interact with and lead technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
  • Attend formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed. Conduct self-directed studies by reading journals and trade publications. Must be aware of new technologies and advances in the engineering field.
