About The Position

Provide leadership and strategic direction for Proto Engineering. This role is responsible for allocating and supervising engineering resources to support projects and programs, as well as developing processes, tooling, manufacturing instructions, and equipment that meet customer requirements and production schedules. Who are we? Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed. Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering discipline or a technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within the functional area assigned
Lead, supervise, and direct the manufacturing engineering team, including tool design functions.
Provide leadership in manufacturing areas such as product flow, tooling, and standard work procedures.
Contribute input on manufacturability, direct costs, and non-recurring costs.
Lead technical information exchanges with customers, ensuring accurate communication and strong technical representation.
Oversee the implementation of process-dependent manufacturing solutions.
Develop and advance the company's manufacturing engineering culture and infrastructure.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of manufacturing engineering requirements for military and government programs.
Review and recommend improvements to policies and procedures to optimize departmental performance.
Serve as the team lead for cause-and-corrective-action initiatives, coordinating cross-functional involvement from Quality, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
Ensure projects and assignments align with company practices, policies, and regulations (e.g., SOX, OSHA, Management System Standards).
Maintain strong communication and collaboration with internal and external customers, establishing standards that support positive relationships.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of equivalent industry experience is preferred.
Five years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
