About The Position

Responsible for coordinating and supervising activities relating to the maintenance and repair of physical systems of buildings and equipment. Coordinates and supervises preventive maintenance of guest rooms and public areas. Supervises the work of others and performs necessary work independently. Responsible for assigning work and supervising all of the maintenance and repair work of the following employees in the Engineering Department: Engineer Tech’s 1, 2, 3 Specialist’s positions- HVAC-R tech, Wall Painter, Electrician, Carpenter. Confer with vendors to obtain product and service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule Audit inventory monthly, create purchase requests for items needed by the Engineering Department Supervise work of outside contractors as needed and make sure work was properly performed and the job site left clean Supervise Mechanical, Public Area, and Guest Room preventative maintenance per standards and schedules Attend scheduled meetings as required Troubleshoot all operational problems including, but not limited to, equipment and building trades Assign work, establish task priorities, and maintain schedules for department staff Supervise employees in execution of their duties Support and uphold Hotel philosophy concerning hiring, employee relations, supervision and disciplinary action Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve guest and staff difficulties Ensure cleanliness and safety of Hotel, Guests, Staff, Vendors and all work areas Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the property when needed to assist Operations to perform job duties are not necessarily contained in this job description. Promptly notifies management of any complaints received in accordance with the existing harassment policy. Requirements

  • Ability to become proficient in all fire and life safety programs within 90 days (required)
  • General knowledge of skilled trades such as HVAC-R, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and wall repair,
  • Advanced knowledge or certification in one of these areas required
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience and 1-year supervisory experience of a building/hotel maintenance operation required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings and mechanical maintenance instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals,
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, effectively with guests/co-workers; respond to guest/employee requests, with high level of patience, diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction and conflict resolution.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and extensive hours.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Maintains professionalism at all times, demonstrating courtesy and respect to guests, employees and co-workers
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to perform mechanical maintenance tasks, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms and to climb on scaffolds and ladders
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and to move objects up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch
  • Must have good near and far vision

  • Good computer skills preferred - Ability to use Excel, EMS, PMS & guest response software
