About The Position

The mission of the Division of Transportation Solutions is to provide excellence in transportation by developing, constructing and maintaining the State's infrastructure in a manner that results in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient multi-modal transportation network that enhances mobility commerce, and livability. This position supervises up to 17 employees and is responsible for the maintenance of DelDOT traffic signal and Intelligent Transportation System equipment statewide. Candidates should have experience in traffic signal, ITS and electronics repair, experience in staff supervision and management, experience in asset management, and experience in managing state contracts. This position will be required to coordinate with several sections and entities both within and outside of DelDOT and will need to be available during off-hours to respond to emergency repairs or outages.

Requirements

Five years’ experience in the traffic management as described in the summary statement.
Two years’ experience in transportation or construction project or program management such as planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the status of transportation or construction projects or programs.
One year of experience in contract management and control such as ensuring compliance with terms of contracts and negotiating changes to existing contracts.
Coursework, training and/or work experience in staff supervision which may include performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Responsibilities

Inspects infrastructures to ensure compliance with design plans, materials specifications, safety requirements, construction processes, local, state, and federal codes and on-going maintenance requirements; documents and reports compliance or deficiencies.
Designs, develops, or reviews engineering project or site layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, graphs, and other related activities.
Compiles and records notes, sketches, test results, inspection data, and other information to document compliance and/or develop designs, specifications, reports, maps, and other geographically based data.
Conducts various studies to be used by others to analyze needs or develop plans, record characteristics, and other related activities.
Conducts data analysis to determine accuracy of data collected, develop recommendations, develop corrective designs, and/or ensure compliance.
Tests or evaluates the quality of materials or designs to verify adherence to contracts and specifications.
Obtains survey data such as angles, elevations, points, and contours using electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
Calculates or measures area and volume dimensions, horizontal and vertical geometry, profile and component specifications, and material testing dimensions using calculators or computers.
Operates computer assisted drafting equipment or other tools of the trade, and uses automated information systems and computer software to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report on data.
Reads and interprets plans, specification, blueprints, and other engineering documents.
Performs other related duties as required.
