About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a First Line Leader in Mesa, AZ, to lead a multi-skilled engineering team. This team will be responsible for creating and maintaining design integrity for the Attack helicopter portfolio and other enterprise products. The team may consist of design engineers, structural analysis engineers, producibility/manufacturing engineers, tooling engineers, and configuration management specialists. The systems involved include fuselage, airframe & secondary structures, rotor blades & rotor hub systems, and enterprise support for other product lines. This requisition addresses both design and stress management openings.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in a relevant field of Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace)
Internal candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
External candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience).
5+ years of engineering experience.
5+ years’ experience in a Rotorcraft Engineering discipline.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Completion of an assessment as part of the selection process.

Nice To Haves

Current, active U.S. Secret security clearance
2+ years leading technical teams.
Familiarity with configuration management, producibility, and manufacturing engineering practices.
Proven experience in structural design for aircraft airframes and tooling
Proven experience in structural design of rotor blades and rotor hub systems
Experience in structural design for fixed‑wing aircraft, satellites, or space vehicles
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and production planning
Experience using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and tools
Proficiency with advanced data analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau)
Familiarity with digital collaboration and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence)

Responsibilities

Create and maintain policies and processes that ensure safety in designs and rework instructions, ensuring adequate oversight of designs and considering safety in all decisions.
Prioritize work to ensure that production and field issues are addressed in an expedient manner, weighing courses of action to best serve the production and field environment.
Inspire innovation on the team, seek out and support initiatives for innovative work, provide business cases for new work, and offer engineers space for creative design solutions.
Manage workload to ensure work is done within budget and timeframe expectations, encourage proactive bidding, find solutions for budget/schedule issues, and set/achieve quality targets.
Reward, recognize, and encourage employees, support Technical Lead Engineers, Tech Fellowship, and mentoring programs, identify and fulfill training needs, and implement knowledge transfer programs.
Provide accurate, timely, and audience-appropriate communication.
Manage employees performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines.
Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.
Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements.
Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
