About The Position

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, overseeing a growing engineering team while directly contributing to backend development, architecture, and system scalability. You will mentor engineers, elevate technical standards, and drive architectural decisions that impact the platform’s reliability, performance, and growth. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate product priorities into technical roadmaps, balance feature delivery with technical debt, and ensure the engineering organization scales effectively. This position provides the opportunity to influence both people and systems, shaping the technical foundation of a fast-growing software platform.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundation (Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, microservices)
• 3+ years in technical leadership or engineering management roles
• Experience scaling engineering teams and complex systems in cloud environments (GCP or AWS)
• Proven ability to make architectural decisions with long-term impact
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on coding experience alongside people management responsibilities
• Strong mentorship and leadership skills, developing senior engineers into technical leaders

Responsibilities

• Write production code on backend services, integrations, and migrations, maintaining high performance and scalability
• Design, review, and optimize architecture across microservices and cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred)
• Mentor engineers at all levels, promoting best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and incident response
• Lead technical design reviews and set engineering standards across teams
• Manage and develop a team of engineers, supporting hiring, performance management, and career growth
• Partner with Product and Customer Success teams to prioritize initiatives and address escalations
• Balance hands-on coding with leadership responsibilities, ensuring both system and team scalability
