About The Position

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Engineering/Facilities Maintenance department. With your solid technical knowledge and leadership skills, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our facilities, maintaining high guest satisfaction standards and promoting continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a resort or commercial environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical) and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Supervisory Skills: Proven ability to interview, hire, train, and evaluate team members while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication in English; ability to interact effectively with resort leadership and guests.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to recognize property hazards, collect data, and draw valid conclusions to resolve technical issues.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and resort operations software (e.g., HotSOS).
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s or associate degree in a maintenance-related field preferred.
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to regularly lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Compliance: Required to pass a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade licenses (refrigeration, plumbing, or electrical) and OSHA certification are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the strategic vision and direction of the Engineering Department, aligning with the resort’s overall goals.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, while ensuring accountability.
  • Implement, train, and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Assist in managing the Engineering Department’s budget, including capital reservations, P&L reviews, and expense forecasting.
  • Participate in developing and managing maintenance programs, procedures, and schedules to optimize departmental efficiency.
  • Support the planning and execution of major capital improvement projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify maintenance needs, safety issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate efficient and cost-effective maintenance operations.
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of all tools and materials purchased or assigned to the Engineering Department.
  • Ability to create documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in using resort operations software and devices (HotSOS).
  • Communicate professionally through radios, phones, emails, and verbal interactions.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical data, and O&M manuals.
  • Must be able to recognize and resolve potential hazards on the property.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and battery-powered tools, along with other relevant tools required for the job.
  • Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, dust masks, and within confined or restricted spaces.
  • Capable of understanding and addressing guest needs with positive interactions toward resolution.
  • Must adhere to all CFI/Westgate Resorts policies and procedures.
  • Must always represent Westgate Resorts professionally through appearance, attire, and behavior.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by resort operations leadership.
