Engineering Manager

VantageNew York, NY
35d$230,000 - $260,000

About The Position

At Vantage, we're passionate about building a cloud cost transparency platform that helps enable everyone – from developers to enterprises – analyze, report, collaborate on and optimize their cloud infrastructure costs. Both our CEO (a repeat founder) and CTO are passionate about cloud infrastructure. Having worked together at DigitalOcean, they are taking their combined knowledge to build and scale the Vantage platform. Together we are a high output team of ~60 employees based out of New York City (but embrace the remote-friendly lifestyle). Our current customers include Square, FanDuel, Barstool Sports, PBS, Planetscale, Vercel and Temporal. Vantage is also well capitalized and backed by outstanding top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Scale Ventures, Matthew Prince (Co-Founder, Cloudflare), Calvin French Owen (Co-Founder, Segment), Ben and Moisey Uretsky (Co-Founders, DigitalOcean), Stephanie and Nat Friedman (CEO, Github), Julia Lipton, Brianne Kimmel and others. About The Role: Our Engineering teams ship frequently, operate at significant scale, and work closely with Product and customers to deliver features that are actively used. As our organization grows and we run more parallel streams of work, we are adding engineering management to increase clarity, delivery control, and sustainability. We are hiring an Engineering Manager who has previously built and delivered production software as a Software Engineer, and who brings strong instincts around delivery, pace, and coaching. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on execution and outcomes, not abstraction. You will be accountable for teams shipping high-quality software consistently, while maintaining a sustainable pace and strong collaboration with Product and customers.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to coach engineers and improve team execution over time.
  • Comfort working closely with Product, Design, and customers.
  • A bias toward ownership, clarity, and iteration over rigid process
  • A kind person who gives clear, direct feedback

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end software delivery and operational quality for two product-focused engineering teams (from planning to customer adoption and scale)
  • Make intentional tradeoffs that balance delivery pace, implementation quality, and long-term maintainability
  • Provide technical leadership by guiding decisions using your prior experience as a Software Engineer
  • Coach and our software engineers and tech leads
  • Work closely with customers in partnership with Product to understand use cases, constraints, and feedback

Benefits

  • equity
  • 401(k) plan
  • medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • education stipends
